This album is AMAZING. It is really all I have been listening to for the past couple of days. I first heard Bat for Lashes in 2007 and I must admit at the time I wasn’t too in love with the first album except for 1 or 2 songs but this album is very different for me. Every song I am in love with, the lyrics, the music … the concept it all works and it works magically. It’s inspired me a lot these past days that have been filled with nothing but rain and a lot of self reflection. Obviously one of the best songs is the first single “Daniel” but there is one song on there that literally made me tear up when I heard it and I listened to it over and over again. I’m not sure how to describe when you hear something that really sounds like the inside of your heart and your mind. So beautiful: “Siren Song” Videos and lyrics below. Go get this album!!

It’s true I do. I’ve gotten some feedback in the past week about the sudden rise in cursing here. It’s funny and a little embarrassing I guess, but that’s how I actually talk. The words fuck and shit among various others are interchangeably nouns verbs and adjectives in my vocabulary. Sorry to all those delicate ears out there, I’ll try to keep it to a minimum. I once watched this movie FUCK and afterward didn’t feel so bad for the gratuitous amount of cursing I do. So that movie is a whole other level. Anyway, I think I should own the following shirt just on principle. It’s pretty nice looking too. Don’t you think? Reminds me of that classic “fuck you, you fucking fuck” tshirt you always see in shops in the village and chinatown, which somehow always manages to make me laugh whenever I see it.

I was going through a pile of cds  trying to find one specific mix I made around 6 years ago. Amen! It is found and on it was this band: Gray Matter. I seriously love these guys. Hearing that song made me soooo nostalgic. The name of the mix was “Gina’s Ass Kicking Mixx 3000″. Other pearls include songs from Murder City Devils and Poison the Well. Me and Dana used to make ridiculously awesome mix cds to play before and during the crazy adventures we used to go on. I was talking to her not too long and she found a cd named “Your Mom’s Patootie Pie”. Needless to say it was an epic mix. That’s just how we roll.
