the illest of the ill

the illest of the ill

It’s true I do. I’ve gotten some feedback in the past week about the sudden rise in cursing here. It’s funny and a little embarrassing I guess, but that’s how I actually talk. The words fuck and shit among various others are interchangeably nouns verbs and adjectives in my vocabulary. Sorry to all those delicate ears out there, I’ll try to keep it to a minimum. I once watched this movie FUCK and afterward didn’t feel so bad for the gratuitous amount of cursing I do. So that movie is a whole other level. Anyway, I think I should own the following shirt just on principle. It’s pretty nice looking too. Don’t you think? Reminds me of that classic “fuck you, you fucking fuck” tshirt you always see in shops in the village and chinatown, which somehow always manages to make me laugh whenever I see it.

it’s only $16 and I love the description: “This about covers it all!”  http://printliberation.com/store.php?id=88 They have other great tshirts. Definitely check it out.

I was going through a pile of cds  trying to find one specific mix I made around 6 years ago. Amen! It is found and on it was this band: Gray Matter. I seriously love these guys. Hearing that song made me soooo nostalgic. The name of the mix was “Gina’s Ass Kicking Mixx 3000″. Other pearls include songs from Murder City Devils and Poison the Well. Me and Dana used to make ridiculously awesome mix cds to play before and during the crazy adventures we used to go on. I was talking to her not too long and she found a cd named “Your Mom’s Patootie Pie”. Needless to say it was an epic mix. That’s just how we roll.

hello lovelies, here is a long ass post of stuff that I have been diggin:

Can I just blab on for a while about how much I loooooove the Sophomore S/S 2009 collection? OK so if you follow me on twitter you may have seen how I was planning a trip to the trim store? All for the sake of a DIY skirt with exposed contrasting zippers. Yes, I am all about this right now. Love isn’t even the appropriate word.

These two pair of boots have been swirling around in my mind a lot the past 2 weeks. Especially the pair on the right. It is now my goal to recreate them somehow in a black version. A pair of docs and thick grosgrain perhaps? The Elspeth Gibson docs (seen at Style Bubble) are so girly pretty. I just love baby pink anything with black. Take the ruffles off the bottom and we’re good to go!

Wanna get my hands on this Sweet Ampersand necklace on Etsy

oh yes it is.

love you

Muses : Enid Coleslaw

Muses : Enid Coleslaw

The graphic novel Ghost World holds a super special place in my heart. But in the movie version the impeccable Enid Coleslaw is played by Thora Birch and a muse is born. Seriously, the middle picture is pretty much what I looked like in highschool. So anyhoo, I know tons of folks have dissected the style of this infamous fictional character, hell … Luella even based an entire collection on her, but when I get nostalgic I just can’t help but to think of her and how perfectly that movie sums up the spirit of my teenage years.

Gothic: Dark Glamour

Gothic: Dark Glamour

I have a deep love affair with anything dark, romantic and slightly macabre. So it’s fair to say that a new exhibit that just recently opened at the Museum at FIT has got me a bit turned on. It is a look at the history and beginnings of Gothic fashion as well as it’s influence on today’s designer and street fashions. The exhibit will feature looks from designers who truly exemplify the spirit and essence of the Gothic aesthetic along with ensembles representing several of today’s Gothic subcultures such as Japanese “Gothic Lolitas”.

Victorian mourning dresses, Alexander McQueen and Gothic Lolitas … I’m swooning already.

Gothic: Dark Glamour

September 5, 2008 through February 21, 2009

“Gothic” is an epithet that evokes images of death, destruction, and decay. Not simply a word that describes something, such as a Gothic cathedral, it is almost always a term of abuse that implies the dark, barbarous, and gloomy. Such negative connotations have made the gothic an ideal symbol of rebellion for a wide range of cultural outsiders. From its origins in 18th century gothic literature of terror to its contemporary manifestations in vampire literature and cinema, the gothic has embraced the powers of horror and the erotic macabre. Throughout its history, fashion has been central to our vision of the gothic. The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) presents Gothic: Dark Glamour, the first exhibition devoted to the gothic in fashion, from September 5, 2008 through February 21, 2009.
